The City of Hastings is planning to develop a grant application to the United States Department of Transportation to plan for transportation improvements in South Hastings. The Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant program provides grants for surface transportation infrastructure projects with significant local or regional impact to improve safety, quality of life, community connectivity, and economic competitiveness. This grant was initially announced and known as the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE).

This document shows the changes made by the Trump Administration from the previous RAISE grant requirements. Our application has been updated to reflect these changes.
The grant application was submitted on January 29th! The award announcements are to be made no later than June 28, 2025.
The City held a Community Open House at Lincoln Elementary School, 720 S. Franklin Ave, on January 23rd at 6:30 pm. This meeting, hosted by Councilman Mike Anderson and Councilman Steve Huntley, Ward 1 Representatives, gave an opportunity for community members to learn about the grant and provide input and ideas for the grant application.
