The Hastings Community Redevelopment Authority has made an application on behalf of Queen City Development, LLC, for a specific redevelopment plan modification in the Redevelopment Area #1. The specific plan is for the purchase and redevelopment of the old middle school located at 714 West 5th Street for 68 residential apartments. The applicant has also applied to rezone the property to RP-3, Multiple-Family Residential Planned District.

The Hastings Planning Commission is scheduled to hear these requests during a public hearing on October 21, 2025, at 4:00 pm at the Hastings Municipal Airport, 3300 West 12th Street, Hastings, Nebraska.

The Planning Commission made a motion to recommend approval for both agenda items, however the Commission voted 4-2-1, so the items did not pass and will not move forward to the November 10 Council meeting.
